WELCOME TO

SANDIE'S

GREAT HOLLAND ADVENTURE

This project started out in 1998, with my first, and what I thought would be,

my last, trip to Nederland.  Little did I realize that I would spend the

next 11 years traveling to and from Nederland and making a home there.

As per usual......these pages are always..................

I made the first trip, 1998 a day by day diary of my work and my traveling.

The second trip, 1999 is made as a posting of things done and places visited on a weekly basis during my stay.

The third and fourth trips, 2000 are telling you about my home, and sightseeing in no particular order.

The fifth trip, 2001 is a short commentary about my 2 week visit, along with

some important events that happened during the course of the year in both Nederland and in the United States.

The sixth trip, 2002 is about holidays and festivals held during the summer months.  I will be showing you art and architecture,

canals, tunnels, bridges,  forts, bunkers and castles,a little on politics, and my birthday.  There is a section about a couple

of short trips I took to Belgium and Germany, and of course the everyday life AND the fun things that I am doing in Holland.

The seventh trip, 2003 is ordinary people doing ordinary things.

Life is far from mundane, but it has settled into more of a daily life then a long holiday.  It is comfortable and always enjoyable, but still, with just

a touch of holiday always in the background.  I love it.

The eighth trip, 2004, is, for now, a short month's trip to visit Charlie for his birthday.

As per usual, I am thrilled to be back and am loving seeing my friends.

The ninth trip, 2004, is a wonderful 3 months of autumn and winter.  First on the agenda is a move from the current house to a larger, nicer home.  Then, I will enjoythe changing of the colors and then the fun Holiday of Halloween, which is the very firsttime it will be celebrated in our city.  In November comes Sinterklaas, and of course, the Christmas Holiday.  Hopefully, there will be a bit of traveling also.  Enjoy!

The tenth trip, 2005, is another short month's stay.  Of course, I need to be here for Charlie's 40th birthday.

More work on the new house is needed, and getting to visit with all my friends is an absolute.

Goodness!  The eleventh trip, 2006, is looked forward to greatly.  It's been a year and 3 months since I was last here.

That's just way to long to be away.  But as soon as I return, life also returns to a wonderful normal.

Work to do on the house, friends to see, places to go, and things to do!

Well, here we are.  My twelfth trip, 2007, and year number 9.  I can't believe it.  Where has the time gone?

I had hoped to get back sooner then I did, but being able to spend the next 3 1/2 months in Nederland is still my hearts desire.

There was no trip in 2008.  Had I been able to go to Holland, it would have been my 10th wonderful year with Charlie.  However, due to a major family issues, I once again am not able to get back to my life in Holland.

I don't know what else to say.

Just click on the year you think you would like to visit and start the tour.
